Donald Trump really, really wanted to date Princess Diana
Such was his obsession with
Princess Diana that he reportedly stocked up the Kensington Palace with flowers
post her divorce with Prince Charles.
Princess Diana and Donald Trump.
She was counted among one of world's most-loved public
figures. And he? Well, he's the President of the United States of America.
And if you're thinking there's no possible way their
worlds could've collided, you're in for a serious surprise. A report by Marie
Claire suggests that Trump was quite obsessed with Princess Diana's
"supermodel beauty" and tried to actively pursue her after her
divorce with Prince Charles and before her tragic demise in 1997.
Both, Princess Diana and Donald Trump were reportedly,
part of the same social circle. During one such social gathering, Trump offered
Diana a free membership to his Florida club that she refused.
But it didn't end there, Trump is also believed to
have accelerated his attempts to woo Princess Diana post her divorce with
Prince Charles in 1995.
"He bombarded Diana at Kensington Palace with
massive bouquets of flowers, each worth hundreds of pounds," The Sunday
Times quotes Selina Scott, a broadcaster as saying.
"As the roses and orchids piled up at her
apartment she became increasingly concerned about what she should do. It had
begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her," Scott added.
Back when he wasn't POTUS, Trump also mentioned
Princess Diana in his book, The Art Of The Comeback. "I couldn't help but
notice how she moved people. She lit up the room. Her charm. Her presence. She
was a genuine princess--a dream lady," Daily Mail UK quotes an excerpt
from the book.
Besides other things, Trump appeared in an interview
where he, in signature Trumpesque manner, boasted about how he could've
"nailed" Princess Diana. "She had the height, she had the
beauty, she had the skin," Trump told DJ Howard Stern on his radio show in
1997, post Diana's death.
